Camp Cook

This program is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required to obtain employment in the food industry mainly at mining camps and other institutional camp settings. Through hands-on training and classroom instruction, the students will be able to enter the marketplace with confidence. Students will receive basic instruction in all aspects of camp cooking. Students will be able to pursue pre-employment cooking upon successful completion of this program.

Admission Requirements:

Applicants wishing to apply to this program must:

  • possess a minimum of ABE English 120 and ABE Math 120
  • provide three letters of reference
  • possess personal suitability

APPLICANT ASSESSMENT

Personal or telephone interviews with the program manager will be held to assess personal suitability.

Student Funding and Financial Assistance:

Funding for this program is by contract with various organizations and offered only when funding is available. Funding agencies sometimes also provide training allowances. Contact your local registrar’s office for further information.

Credit Transfer Opportunities:

Students will be able to pursue pre-employment cooking upon successful completion of this program

Employment Opportunities:

Graduates of this program may find employment in mining camps, industrial camp kitchens, tourism camps or community hotels.
