Arviat goes to ReSDA

Arviat Research and Media projects were presented at the Resources and Sustainable Development in the Arctic annual workshop at the Frobisher Inn from Oct. 8-10 in Iqaluit. Social Sciences researchers came from across Canada, the United States and the circumpolar world to participate.

The Unikkaarvik Visitor’s Centre, Iqaluit, is offering a Cultural Afterschool Program. The programming is culturally based with an emphasis on the Inuktitut Language, history and facts about Nunavut. It will run every Wednesday at 4:00 PM at the Centre.

On Sept. 11, the Hon. Daniel Shewchuk congratulated Nunatta Campus Dean Peesee Pitsiulak-Stephens on her retirement from Nunavut Arctic College and Nunavut's public service after 36 years of service.

This academic year, Nakasuk School, Iqaluit, has again entered into a partnership with the Nunavut Teacher Education Program of Nunavut Arctic College. The participation of our Faculty in this program is a benefit for us as hosts and the students who are placed here. It has served us all well over the last several years.

Education Programs of Nunavut Arctic College is currently presenting an Orientation and Inservice for the Faculty of the Nunavut Teacher Education Program. It is being held at Nunatta Campus, Iqaluit and is proving to be informative, educational and entertaining. It began on Wednesday and will conclude on Monday afternoon.

In the last academic year, Education Programs of Nunavut Arctic College expanded its mandate to include responsibility for Early Childhood Education as well as the Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP). Since then there have been continuous efforts to generate a program base for the delivery of a pan Nunavut ECE approach in a consistent and directed effort to enhance the learning / teaching model.
