Environmental Technology Program (ETP) students at the Nunavut Research Institute in Iqaluit took part in a bird dissection workshop this month.

The dissections are part of an ongoing Environment Canada study looking at sea birds. The study is assessing changes to sea birds in a changing arctic ecosystem.

Students dissected the birds, collected various measurements and tissue samples. The data/samples collected are sent to various researchers and labs for analysis.

The remaining carcasses were then donated to the Inuit Studies program who then made soup out of them.
