In collaboration with Hamilton based Juch-Tech Inc., and thanks to a donated space segment from SES, we have been successful in deploying high speed Internet services being used by Nunavut Arctic College. This initiative is being piloted by the Nunavut Research Institute in order to improve connectivity for students and researchers using the facility in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

The collaboration between Coman Communications and its partners has enabled the Nunavut Research Institute to use the bandwidth through a wireless network in the facility. Having access to this additional bandwidth improves the ability of the Nunavut Research Institute to provide the necessary support to researchers and students visiting the facility during research season. Many researchers and students visit the facility from around the world and use it as a logistical support center and is an important resource for all researchers who come to Nunavut.

“It’s exciting to see new opportunities and initiatives like these happening. We are pleased that Coman Communications and its partners are looking at providing these services and developing their capacity to offer this product to a broader consumer base. It’s great that we are able to participate in the demonstration and testing phase of their intiative”, commented Mary Ellen Thomas, Senior Research Officer at the Nunavut Research Institute.
