This summer almost 15 Inuit youth and students in Arviat were able to work on community-based health and research projects. Their work was recently acknowledged in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut by the Hon. Daniel Shewchuk, Minister Responsible for Arctic College and the Nunavut Research Institute.

On August 7, 2013, summer students working with the Arviat Youth Wellness Media Team received some special gifts from Sony Canada while taking part in a photography workshop with professional photographers and authors Louise Abbott and Niels Jensen.

(November 28, 2011 -- Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. President Cathy Towtongie, the Honourable Eva Aariak, Premier of Nunavut and the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Federal Minister of Health today announced the release of the Nunavut Community Wellness Planning (NCWP) pilot projects. The project was undertaken in partnership between NTI, Government of Nunavut, Health Canada and six Nunavut communities. Health Canada provided $2.4 million in funding for the project through the Aboriginal Health Transition Fund.

The Ocean Innovation conference and exhibition strives to introduce relevant and often provocative topics centered on the latest innovations in the areas of maritime safety, efficiency of operations and sustainable ocean management. Ocean Innovation is Canada's premiere oceans event, attracting significant national and international interest.

Ocean Innovation 2011 will bring together representatives from Northern communities, scientists, policy makers, and business people to discuss challenges and opportunities pertaining to development of ocean resources, sovereignty, climate change, and maritime infrastructure. The event will be held in Iqaluit, Nunavut and will involve representatives from all parts of the circumpolar region.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (October 22, 2009) – Nunavut has begun immediate roll-out of its 2009 flu vaccine program following yesterday’s announcement by Health Canada authorizing the use of the H1N1 vaccine.
