Sivuliuqtit Alumni returning for Rankin Inlet Reunion

Sivuliuqtit Alumni will return to Rankin Inlet for their first Reunion on June 1, 2013

The Sivuliuqtit program (Nunavut Management Development Program) was delivered jointly by Nunavut Arctic College and the federal government's management development training Centre, the Canadian Centre for Management Development in Gatineau, Quebec. The program ran from 1995 to 1999, in preparation for the creation of Nunavut.

Over 60 graduates have gone on to make major contributions to the implementation of the Nunavut dream.

This innovative program offered the contemporary world view and best practices of leadership and management development while integrating the Inuit world view in preparation for the creation of Nunavut. Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit principles were ingrained during this program by having participants and Elders interact openly throughout the program.

The Elders who taught in the program, the late Mr. Mariano Aupilardjuk, Mrs. Rhoda Karetak and Mrs. Taparti, will be honoured at the reunion for their invaluable contribution to the program.
